• TBRI Practioner: Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), 2016 Karyn Purvis Institute of Child
Development – Austin, TX. TBRI-An evidence-based practice including holistic intervention developed
over the past decade that meets the needs of the “whole child.” An approach to that is developmentally
respective, responsive to trauma, and attachment based.
This therapeutic approach is collaboratively done in a conjoint session. The therapist works to build rapport and
a therapeutic alliance with you and your partner. The couple and therapist decide on the frequency and
duration of the sessions. Through this process the therapist collaborates with you to discover your needs as a
whole. The therapist use Gottman Method Couples Therapy methods intended to disarm problematic
communication patterns, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of
stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the
context of the relationship. Some of the relationship issues that may be addressed in therapy include:
• Frequent conflict and arguments
• Poor communication
• Emotionally distanced couples on the verge of separation
• Specific problems such as attachment issues, sexual difficulties, infidelity, money, and parenting
Couples Counseling & “No Secret” Policy: When working with couples, all laws of
confidentiality exists. I request that neither partner attempt to triangulate me into keeping a
“secret” as these dynamics can become counter-productive. However, if one
party requests a copy of couples or family therapy records in which they participated, an
authorization from each participant (or their representatives and/or guardians) in the sessions
before the records can be released.
This therapeutic approach is collaboratively done in a family session. The therapist works to build rapport and a
therapeutic alliance with participating members of the family. We work to identify the dynamics within the
family system and collaborate on goal formation of the family as a whole. When one individual system is
impacted the entire family system is impacted. I utilize a family systems approach to address family dynamics.

We do accept private pay along with providing a sliding scale based off of household income for those who qualify. Please talk with your therapist during intake for fees. Many clients choose not to involve insurance companies in their mental health care. In the event you don’t, your counseling is not limited by the diagnosis, treatment plan or session limits that health insurance companies dictate.
Payment is due at the time of service. Acceptable forms of payment are: exact-amount cash or credit card. In the event that a scheduled appointment time is missed or cancelled less than 24 hours please refer to the “Appointments and Cancellations” policy below. Awakening Connections, LLC is not able to render services without a valid credit card on file, beginning with the very first appointment. Due to the rise of unforeseen and or unpredictable nonpayment, debit cards are NOT acceptable.
Other Fees: A fee equal to the cost of a normal session will be charged for telephone consultations and or administrative duties that are over and above normal charting. Oral or written communications with the patient/client, family members, other practitioners, hospitals, insurance companies, employers, union representatives, courts, CPS, etc. are chargeable to the patient/client or insurance carrier, which ever applies. The intent here is not to nickel and dime the patient/client but to discourage and minimize out of session discussions and activities. In-home/on-site therapy services offer people comfort and flexibility. They are offered at a regular hourly rate.
Fee Disputes: In the case of a credit card dispute, I reserve the right to provide the necessary documentation (i.e., your signature on the “Therapy Consent & Agreement” that covers the cancellation policy to your bank or credit card company should a dispute of a charge occur. If there is a financial balance on account, a bill will be sent to the home address on the intake form unless otherwise noted.
Please note: You may be able to file a separate claim with your insurance provider. I recommend that you contact your insurance company to determine what they are willing to cover.
You are responsible for attending each appointment and agree to adhere to the following policy: If you cannot keep the scheduled appointment, notify our office to cancel or reschedule the appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time via phone or written notice. You will be responsible for $50 for the first cancelled appointment (less than 24-hour notice) and $60 for any subsequent cancelled appointment (less than 24-hour notice). If you cancel or reschedule more than once consecutively, we may re-evaluate your needs, desires, and motivations for treatment at this time. This cannot be billed to the insurance.
TRIAL, COURT ORDERED APPEARANCES, LITIGATION: Rarely, but occasionally, a court will order a therapist to testify, be deposed, or appear in court for a matter relating to your treatment or case. Clients are discouraged from having the therapist subpoenaed. In order to protect your confidentiality, I strongly suggest not being involved in the court.
